Abstract
[Objective]To evaluate the clinical efficacy of Aidi(AD)proinjection combined with arsenic trioxide(As2O3)by transcatheter arterial chemoembolization(TACE)in treating primary liver cancer.[Methods]Eighty patients with liver cancer receiving superselective TACE were retrospectively divided into two groups:treatment group and control group(each n=40).Patients in the treatment group were given intravenous AD injection(100 mL in 500 mL 0.9 %NaCl)for 21 days and As2O3 10mg by TACE;Patients in the control group received conventional chemotherapeutic agents(5-fluorouracil 1000 mg,cisplatin 50 to 70 mg,doxorubicin 40-50 mg,mitomycin 8 to 16 mg).Lipiodol-chemotherapeutic agents emulsion was injected into the feeding arteries of tumors followed by gelatin sponge or polyvinyl alcohol particles embolization. All patients were treated for four courses, and four weeks for each course.[Results]In the treatment group,10 cases were CR,18 PR,8 SD,2 PD and 2 died, and the overall response rate was 70.0 %,the AFP and tumor reduction rates were 80% and 77.5%,and the median survival time was 15 months. In the control group,6 cases were CR,10 PR,10 SD,10 PD and 4 died, and the overall response rate was 40.0%,the AFP and tumor reduction rates were 37.5% and 55.0%,and the median survival time was 8.5 months. The severe adverse reaction incidence was 7.5% in the treatment group and 35.0% in the control group.[Conclusion]AD proinjection combined with As2O3 by TACE is safe and effective for the treatment primary liver cancer.
