On Bi-family in the Song Dynasty——Focus on Genealogy,Officialdom and Marriage

Bi-family lived in Guancheng county of Zhengzhou,was one of many clans in the Song dynasty.Six generations from Bi Shi-an to his descendants,grouped and thrived by imperial civil examination,became officials continuously in means of protection by ancestors,and developed by marriage with official families.Bi-family not only had general characters,such as being officials and marriage with official families generation after generation,and a mode of the prosperity and adversity,but also had such particularities as outstanding administrative work of government officials,and no saving-up family property,and sparing in imperial civil examination and fewer higher-ranking officials.
