Abstract

Bolling regularity of cotton plant retaining leafy shoots was studied regarding retaining leafy shoots as treatment and moving leafy shoots as check. The treatment of retaining leafy shoots is beneficial to the formation of early bolls, and boll setting percentage of which before 8/5 (month/day) was 8 38 percentage higher than that of CK.There were no significant differences of seed cotton per boll, shell weight per boll, boll shell weight/boll weight, number of seed per boll, lint percentage between the fruit shoots of leafy shoots retained cotton and the fruit shoots of leafy shoots moved cotton.Bolling stage of leafy shoots of leafy shoots retained cotton was defered to sunlight rich period from July 21 to August 20.Boll weight of leafy shoots from leafy shoots retained cotton was 3 57 g averagely during the whole development stage,27 73% lower than that of fruit shoots(4 56 g).
