Abstract
The specific activity of catalase in resistant and susceptible strains of red flour beetle,Tribolium castaneum(Herbst),was mensurated, wherein distinct difference in the resistance to phosphine existed among the four strains. The results showed that the ratios of specific activity of catalase in the tested strains were 1,1.27,3.88,5.25 when the resistance factors to phosphine were 1,2.42,270.81 and 352.80 times respectively. The results indicated that the magnitude of the activity of catalase in red flour beetle has positive correlation with the resistance level to phosphine, and the resistance to phosphine of the insect may be associated with the activity increase of catalase.
