Efficacy analysis of MTA and Vitapex used for apexification

Abstract

Objective To investigate the clinical efficacy of MTA and Vitapex used for apexification. Methods Thirty-four permanent teeth with pulpitis,pulp necrosis and acute and chronic periapical periodontitis were randomly divided into the MTA group with 16 teeth and the Vitapex group with 18 teeth. The efficacy was compared after 3 months of treatment. Results After three months,the MTA group reached a success rate of 93.12% and the Vitapex group 83.33%;the x 2 test showed statistically significant difference between the two groups (P 0.05). Conclusion MTA has good biocompatibility,is more effective in inducing the tooth root formation and shows significantly better efficacy than Vitapex in apexification
