Meanings of the Indigenization of Social Science——A Typology Based on the Review of Sociology in China

Abstract

In the history of social science and sociology in China,issues on indigenization are raised for many times.Many scholars said that social sciences are all imported from western countries,and advocated that these disciplines should be indigenized in Chinese context.Based on the review of Chinese sociology,we put forward a new typology of opinions on the indigenization of social sciences in this paper.These types of thoughts on indigenization of social sciences are related to different viewpoints of epistemology and assumptions in the metatheory.
