Abstract
The activity of the Yujiang fault has been studied in this paper.Combining the seismic fault with the earthquake case analyses in the mid-Yunnan area it is considered that this fault is a seismic structure having M6.5 earthquake risk. The major risk segment is Epipleistocene part, where is only 700m away from the dam.Once an earthquake occurs the dam will suffer VIII or VIII+ damage.Although an earthquake will not cause irresistible dislocation damage to the dam the surface strain value is possibly greater than 0.65×10-4,which will greatly threaten the safety of the dam. Therefore an effective reinforcement measures against the strain should be taken to the dam body.
