Abstract
Combined with the hydrologic background of the internal tide phenomenon in the Nansha Islands sea areas,a two layer model is used to numerically study the influence of tide nature,stratification degree of water,thermocline depth,wind stress etc.on the characteristics of the internal tide in the shelf slope break.It is shown that the period of the internal tide deals only with the tide nature in the sea area; wind stress, nonlinear effect and the source depth of barotropic tide may change the amplitude of the internal tide;the amplitude of the internal tide varies with the stratified degree of water and the depth of thermocline in the sea area.
