Teacher Leadership:An Exploration into the Theory and Practice

Since 1980s,concepts like empowerment and team have had deep influence on the traditional paradigm of leadership.New leadership philosophy has broken through the traditional bureaucratic organization model,and therefore there is a rise of theories like distributed leadership,participative leadership,and quiet leadership and so on.With the wide spread of restructuring movement in the world,teachers play more and more outstanding role in the process of school reform,thus teacher leadership has become an important issue.With the growing size of today's schools,schools are facing more and more uncertain factors.If schools are to be really successful,they can not fully rely on principals,but on all teachers who have yet to participate and lead.Responding to the trend,school leaders should adopt such effective measures as to provide necessary support,create school culture which is conducive to the development of teacher leadership,and improve teacher leadership qualities so that the idea of teacher leadership will be integrated into school's overall management.
