Abstract
This paper utilizes the ecological footprint model to calculate the ecological footprint of Jiangsu Province from 2000 to 2004 and analyzes the dynamic change trends of its consumption and supply of all types of land. The result indicates that the ecological footprint of Jiangsu Province increases continually, the ecological deficit aggravating, the ecological footprint of fossil land increasing severely, and the ecological footprint of cultivated-land decreasing slightly, and that slowing down the rate of population growth and improving the efficiency of resources are the important ways to ensure sustainable social and economic development of the province.
