Abstract

The precipitation distribution in flood season over Chinese loess plateau in the past 40 years is analyzed. The results show that in flood season there are three sensitive regions of abnormal precipitation over Chinese plateau where two phases appear obviously divided by the year 1985. By using the wavelet analysis 3~5 and 8 years variation period and 16~20 years inter-decadal change exist with respect to the precipitation. The 3~5year period is more remarkable. The extreme frequent rainfall or drought occur in 1960s and cut down sharply in 1990s.
