Some studies on role of urban design

This work focused on four aspects: urban design, urban regeneration, the introduction of economy and culture during urban regeneration and the role of urban design in urban regeneration. Recognition of more functions of city design besides space modeling and planning management of city regeneration by integrated environment improvement led to the conclusion that city design benefits the economic and cultural rehabilitation and development. With the introduction of the designs of Birmingham and the Northern Quarter in England, the role of urban design in the regeneration of urban economy and culture was analyzed. The results can give some advice for urban construction in the course of the fast urbanization in our country, during which sustainable urban development should be tried for, in order to achieve urban regeneration and enhance urban quality by creating a new urban environment and meeting the needs of modern times and market requirements.
