Abstract
Modern motor needs high speed, high efficiency, high power density and low pulsating torque, Traditional rare earth permanent magnet manifests its limitation. Halbach array is a novel permanent magnet (PM) structure: sinusoidal and one-sided field ,which can cause higher air-gap flux and lower rotor-yoke flux, the result can reduce the volume, the pulsating torque and improve power density, efficiency of permanent magnet motor. Results of element analysis based on ANSYS prove that the new structure can ensurs power density while reduce weight and air-gap width of the motor, which can improve its performance greatly.
