Abstract

Objective To study the expression of Survivin and Caspase-3 in placenta of severe preeclampsia, thus to detect their effects in the pathogenesis of the early-onset severe preeclampsia. Methods Twenty normal pregnant women (control group) and forty women with preeclampsia were recruited in this study. According to the onset time, preeclampsia group were divided into two groups:early-onset preeclampsia group (34 weeks, 20 patients) and later-onset preeclampsia group (≥34 weeks, 20 patients). The expression of Survivin and Caspase-3 in placenta in both groups were determined by immunohistochemistry. Statistic analysis was done by image analysis system. Results The level of Survivin in placental villus trophoblast cytoplasm of pre-eclampsia group was significantly lower than that of control group (P0.05).The level of Caspase-3 in the placental villus trophoblast and cytoplasm membrane of pre-eclampsia group was significantly higher than that of control group(P0.05).Compared with the later- onset, early-onset group had lower Survivin expression and higher Caspase-3 expression. Conclusion Survivin and Caspase-3 may participate in the pathogenic process of pre-eclampsia.
