Abstract
The inhibition of molybdate for corrosion of carbon steel in cooling water is studied by means of ellipsometry. The coverage, film thickness on carbon steel and refractive index are measured. The results indicated that the best concentration of molybdate in cooling water is 200ppm for the more complete and compact and corrosion-resisting surface films formed on steel. The mechanism of inhibition is discussed.
