The Changes of the Plasma Renin Activity after Large Dose Intravenous Injection of Furosemide in Hypertension Patients

Abstract

Objective To study the change of the plasma renin activity(PRA) after 40mg intravenousinjection of furosemide. Methods The changes of PRA of 22 cases with refractory hypertension were examined before and after 10min, 30min injecting furosimide 40mg by vein.Meanwhile the changes of blood pressure and heart rate were monitored. Results Compared the changes of PRA before and after 10min,30min injection of furosemide by vein,it is 3.45:7, 11:5.68ng/ml/h respectively,P0.05.The peak is at the 10min.The ATⅡ also has the same change but not so obvious. Conclusion Injecting furosemide 40mg by vein can stimulate the increase of PRA quickly,the peak is at 10min, there are obvious age and sex differences, the ATⅡ also has the same change but not obvious.
