Observation of therapeutic effect with ipratropium bromide nasal spray in the elderly perennial non-allergic rhinitis patients

Objective To evaluate the efficacy and safety with ipratropium bromide nasal spray in the treatment of rhinorrhea in the elderly perennial non-allergic rhinitis patient.Methods 52 cases of elderly perennial non-allergic rhinitis patients were divided into two groups at random.There were 22 cases in the treatment group,and 30 cases in control group.The patients sprayed ipratropium bromide spray 4 times daily or budesonide spray 4 times daily for consecutive 2 weeks.The clinical effect and side-effect on the pre-treatment group were compared with the post-treatment one.Results The effective rate in the treatment group is 95.5%,and that in the control one is 73.3%.The differences are significant between those two groups(P0.05).Nasal mucociliary clearance: within these two groups,there are no significant differences between pretreatment and posttreatment.(P0.05).Conclusion Ipratropium bromide nasal spray is effective and safe for the control of rhinorrhea in patients with elderly perennial non-allergic rhinitis,but no obviously effective to nasal mucociliary clearance.
