Abstract

Objective: To investigate the extracellular signal-regulated kinase (ERK) expression between two cell lines in adenoid cystic carcinoma of the salivary glands. Methods: ERK expression and enzyme activity in SACC-LM and SACC-83 cell lines were evaluated through RT-PCR and Western blotting technique. Experimental data were analyzed by ANOVA followed by t test. Results: Activity of ERK in SACC-LM cell line (54.846 pmol·min-1·μg-1) showed significant difference with SACC-83 cell line (40.281 pmol·min-1·μg-1), (P0.01); expression of ERK within SACC-LM cells (0.834±0.026) also had significant difference with ERK within SACC-83 cells (0.581±0.072), (P0.01). Conclusion: ERK activity and expression variations within the SACC may possibly related to tumor invasion.
