A Reflection on Municipality Scale In China

The municipality is an important part of administrative divisions. The administrative division of China has experienced frequent adjustment since the implementation of reform and opening-up policy. Establishing counties governed by municipality,county level city,and the adjustment of municipal district are the main forms of administrative division adjustment. The adjustment of municipal district,a basic component unit of municipality,will influence the development of city economy and society. Starting from the connotation and the significance of municipal district development,this paper discusses the limitations of the scale of former municipal districts in China,and,based on the present situation of municipal district adjustment in China,puts forward a new standard of municipal district scale which is suitable for future development of urbanization in China.
