A clinical study on the efficacy of the fast-loading strategy of olanzapine for acute schizophrenic patients

Objective:To investigate the efficacy and safety of the fast-loading strategy of olanzapine in the treatment of acute schizophrenic patients. Method:32 acute schizophrenic patients who received fast-loading strategy of clorapine were entered into the study.The clinical responses and side effects were evaluated with PANSS-EC(excited component),CGI and TESS before and after 12 h,72 h,1 wk,2 wks and 4 wks. Results:29 patients were fully completed the study and got good response.The rate of response was 91%.The total prevalence of side effects was 39%.Weight gaining was the major side effect at the end of treatment. Conclusion:The fast-loading strategy of olanzapine is effective and safe in the treatment of acute schizophrenic patients.And it is valuable to be recommended clinically.
