An Exploration of Liu Xie's View of Literature

This article reveals Liu Xie's view of literature,or the connotations and interdependence amongst the four layers of his concept of literature: doctrine,humanity,text,and literature.The exploration of its characteristics indicates that he was not only aware of the universality of literature,but also of the unique esthetics of literary arts.Liu Xie's view of literature had its own system,both open and dialectical,with an in-depth mastery of the essence of literature.
