Abstract

The floral biology,numbers of inflorescence,ratios of female flower and ratios of seed in different zone,different light supply and different space of Jatropha curcus were studied in this paper.The results showed that the individual flower lasted 2-3 d,the inflorescence flowering lasted 10-25 d,and the florescence of a population could be more than six months in the south Yunnan,China.The flower opened at around 8:00 and closed at around 19:00 everyday,and it could re-open on the next morning.The open date of male flowers was generally 2-3 d later than that of female flower.For the whole inflorescence,however, the male and female flower was the same opening in the full-blown,and the reason of cross-pollination were that the male and female flower distributing was different space,the activity space and frequency of visiting insects were very big.The number of inflorescence,ratios of female flower and ratios of seed of J.curcas have distinct difference in different zone,different sunlight and different space,it shows that J.curcas was turnsole,we should select soil of full sunlight and prune the plants properly when we cultivated it,for accelerate divaricator,the number of top inflorescence of stem or branch,ratios of female flower and ratios of seed to improve the seed yield.
