Abstract

The gadolinium(Ⅲ) -based macromolecular MRI contrast agents have been attracting extensive attentions due to their high relaxivity, long residence lifetime, good organ selectivity and low toxicity. This review presents the new developments of the synthesis strategies for conjugating gadolinium(Ⅲ) chelates to macromolecules including linear polymers, dendrimers and biological macromolecules as well as their application potentials in magnetic resonance imaging and diagnosis.
