Survey of Hypertension in a Rural Area of Shanghai City

Objective To reveal status of prevalence,awareness,treatment and control of hypertension in Shanghai rural area.Methods A cross-sectional survey was carried out by cluster sampling of population who aged 40 years and over.General information,prevalence and treatment of hypertension were investigated.Blood pressure was checked.Distribution of related parameters were described,such as prevalence,level of blood pressure,rank of hypertension awareness,treatment and control of hypertension,.Results Prevalence of hypertension in the population was 33.8%.There was significant difference between deferent age groups and genders(P0.05).There was significant difference in blood pressure distribution between male and female(P0.001).And there were significant differences in the rates of awareness,treatment and control of hypertension (P0.001).Conclusion Prevalence of hypertension in male is higher than that in female.Awareness,treatment and control rate of hypertension in Shanghai rural area is better than national survey,but it still on the low side.
