Abstract
Long′an County is situated in the southwestern part of Guangxi. It is a typical karst region. The characteristics of the land resources are that poor land is more and high-quality land is less, the area of the land that is hard to be used is large, the constituents of land-use are mostly forestland and farmland, and the productivity and utilization ratio of land are low. Because of improper exploitation and utilization, the per capita area of cultivated land is decreasing year by year, the quality of land is descending, and the ecological environment is becoming worse. As the population growing, the demand for various types of land will increase continuously. The result of the analysis indicates that the land of the county will be in short supply by 2010 and the contradiction between supply and demand for land will be sharp by 2020. For sustainable use of land resources some measures are suggested: 1)to strengthen the protection of the agricultural land and maintain dynamic balance of the cultivated land; 2) to restrict control the nonagricultural land-use; 3)to make rational use of land resources and improve the ecological environment; 4)to regulate the industrial structure and raise the utilization ratio and productivity of land.
