The clinical effect of variant xiaoqinglong decoction on cough variant asthma in children

Objective To investigate the application effect of variant xiaoqinglong decoction on cough variant asthma in children in order to provide reference basis for clinical application.Methods One hundred and sixteen children with cough variant asthma who were treated in the department of paediatrics in our hospital from June 2010 to June 2012 were collected and divided into the control group and the observation group by random number table.Children in the control group were given montelukast and budesonide,children in the observation group were given variant xiaoqinglong decoction on the basis of the treatment of montelukast and budesonide.After 4 wks treatment,the clinical efficacy and adverse reaction in two groups were evaluated.Results Cough relief time and cough control time in the observation group were shorter than those in the control group(P 0.05),the clinical efficacy of the observation group was higher than that in the control group(96.55% vs 86.21%,P 0.05).The adverse drug reactions of the observation group did not increased significantly(P 0.05).Conclusion The treatment of variant xiaoqinglong decoction combined with Western medicine shows satisfactory clinical effect,it is superior to Western medicine treatment alone and safe.
