Abstract
Objective To summarize the treatment experience of 41case anterior aneurysms embolized with microcoils. Methods Forty-one cases were treated with coils to block the aneurysmal sac via femoral artery approach. The hemorrhage was early removed from subarachnoid cavity after operation. Results Fortythree aneurysms were cured, forty patients recovered clinically, and one patient died. Themortality was 2.4 %.The 100 %embolization was achievedinthe sacs of 36 aneurysms,95 %embolizationin3 and 90 %embolizationin2.One cases aneurysmruptured duringthe embolization. One case sufferedfromcerebral embolismand 8 cases sufferedfromcerebral vasospasm. The microcoil of one case partially es-caped after operation. One recurrent case was cured bysecond embolization.Norebleeding occurredinthe 3 to 30 months’followup. Conclusion Microcoilocclusionis safe and effective treatment for the anterior communicating artery aneurysm.Advances inthe techniques and correct treatment ofthe complications will decrease the complications andimprove future outcome.
