Breaking Away from Model Writing to Cultivate College Students' Ability Of Creative Writing

Under the new situation of CET reform,the purpose of college English teaching is to improve students' abilities of listening,speaking,reading and writing effectively.But as English writing is concerned,traditional writing method which emphasized on imitation and copy of model passages severely affected students' writing creativities.This essay analyzes the disadvantages of model writing and discusses some new ways of improving students' writing creative ability:to stimulate students' writing enthusiasm by means of model when needed;to cultivate students' self-access learning ability;to put their creativity into full play by the combination of independent study and cooperation with others;to improve checking method in teaching activities;to strengthen students' psychological abilities.In a word,what the teacher should do is to arouse students' active writing creativity and to improve their writing level effectively.
