Abstract
This paper discussed the main factors that affect the ladle free-opening rate for high aluminum steel like 20Mn23AlV during continuous casting. According to the real conditions of the 40 t ladle at the Steelmaking Plant of Baosteel Special Steel Company, measures have been adopted to improve the ladle filler sand quality, bake all the raw material, fix the addition amount of ladle filler sand, clean the ladle nozzle and optimize the stirring effects of bottom argon blowing during the refining process. These measures have resolved the low free-opening rate problem with high aluminum steel caused by the long ladle time of liquid steel.
