Chen Du-xiu and the research of Chinese modern history

Chen Du-xiu was the Marxist in China early, he studied the Chinese modern history from Opium War at periods of May Fourth Movement, and he was the inaugurators in studying the Chinese modern history similar to Li Da-zhao. Under direction of historical materialism, Chen Du-xiu analyzed the social property according to the invading from the western countries and the variety of the China, and coming to conclusion that the mode of production in China have been changed, China becoming “semi-colony” on the politics, then Chen putting forward the democracy revolution is a modern history topic of the Chinese society, anti- imperialism and anti- feudalism is the basic mission of the democracy revolution. Chen Du-xiu also studied the important history affairs such as Boxer Movement, Wu-xu Reform, 1911 Revolution, and May Fourth Movement etc. and judged of its historic status in the Chinese democracy revolution in modern China by the views of “revolutionary history”.His results in this field deepened the understanding about Chinese the modern history. From the process of hundred years studying, Chen Du-xiu's research laid the foundation of “the type of revolutionary history”on the learning in Chinese modern history, and he was an important pioneer of“the type of revolutionary history”.
