Abstract
A method to realize a wide frequency-coverage frequency synthesizer with low spurious level and low phase noise level is proposed in this paper.A 3~16GHz wide frequency-coverage frequency synthesizer with a mode of dual-PLL-switching is implemented by the proposed method. Although the frequency synthesizer is designed in a simple way,it obtained the good performance:when the frequency step is 20MHz,the phase noise level is less than -83dBc/Hz@10kHz,the spurious level is below -60dBc and the output power is above 10dBm.This method provides an optimal solution to the design of high-performance frequency synthesizers with ultra-wide frequency-coverage and fine frequency step.
