Abstract

The stress sensitivity of rock is related to the pore compressibility,so that the compressibility of rock pore volume cannot be confused with the rock compressibility in oilfield development. Rock compressibility is smaller than pore volume compressibility. It has been proved through experiments by many researchers in the world that low permeability reservoirs are more stress-sensitive than medium-high permeability reservoirs; this cannot be ignored during production process. Meanwhile,this paper emphasizes that: experiment is a basis of scientific research,and is the sole criterion for testing truth. Low permeability reservoirs are stress-sensitive; the threshold pressure does exist in low permeability reservoirs and is not an experimental false; oil and gas migration is a doctrine but not theory; some cognition about oil and gas migration cannot be verified in practice.
