Abstract

The primary difference of Chinese culture and Western culture lies in their cultural connotation of vocabulary.This thesis discusses the cultural connotation of English vocabulary from the angle of cross-cultural communication,emphasizing the importance of understanding the cultural connotation of English vocabulary.Then it discusses the cultural connotation of the examples from Bible,the Greek mythology and Western classic literature,etc.Lastly,it shows how to introduce cross-cultural communication in English teaching for vocational colleges of tourism.
