Abstract
This paper analyzes requirements of smart distribution network business and communication, and proposes an application principle according to the technical characteristics of distribution network communication technologies. The application principle provides a reference for power distribution communication network planning and construction. According to the characteristics of smart distribution network businesses, businesses can be divided into four categories including relay protection, control, information monitoring and video. By analyzing differences among common communication technologies, such as optical fiber communication, medium-voltage carrier communication, wireless public network communication, wireless private network communication, in terms of time delay, bandwidth, security and reliability, this paper describes the principle for choosing communication technologies applicable to the distribution network.
