Discussion on drug specification of garlic and alltride

Alltride is diallyl trisulfide in the national drug specifications [WS-10001-(HD-0050)-2002].Conversion of alliin to alltride and pharmacology of alltride are summarized in the paper.It is proved that alltride is the organosulfur compound derived from alliin catalyzed by allinase,although names of garlic and alltride are similar in Chinese.Actually alltride is not the natural component in garlic.Therefore,the assay of diallyl trisulfide in the standard of garlic is not reasonable and should be revised.Diallyl trisulfide synthesized is the mixture of diallyl polysulfides.It suggested the revision to alltride standards and withdraws the name of alltride.The name of oil-soluble polysulfides is confusion.Therefore,the research conclusion in many articles is not accurate in expression.It suggested that the name of organosulfur compounds should be regulated.
