An Analysis of Cultural Connotations Between Chinese and English Animal Words

There are a lot of animal words and expressions both in Chinese and English Their meanings,cultural connotations and the range of usage has similarities,because human beings have some similar abilities of thought,some similar laws of cognition,and some animals play the same important role in human life of these two nations. However,cultural connotations of animal words in Chinese and English cultures have many differences,which is because in the long course of history,the two social groups are discrepant in religion, history,geographical environment and customs. Only are the cultural connotations of animal words considered in communication,barriers in cross-cultural exchanges between the two countries can be overcome.
