Abstract
In order to determine the potential of ELA(embryo lethality assay) for determining virulence of avian E.coli,an embryo lethality assay of 20 isolates was linked with a chicken ethality assay to analyze their association.In this study,8 isolates from colisepticemia were higher virulent,with 40%-70% embryo lethality.10 of 12 from chicken feces were less virulent,with 0%-20% embryo lethality.And the embryo lethality was associated with chicken lethality.This study suggested that ELA may be correlated with virulence of avian E.coli,and may be a method for determining virulence of avian E.coli.
