Panoramic Radiographs Analysis for Adult Patients with Mandibular Developmental Asymmetry

Objective To evaluate the asymmetry of the mandible in adult patients with mandibular developmental asymmetry and normal by analyzing panoramic radiographs.Methods The linear and angular measurement was assessed.There was obvious difference between temporomandibular disorders(78 subjects) and 115 subjects without temporomandibular disorders in sagittal and axial dimensions radiographs respectively.Results Analysis with a paired test of the mean difference between the two sides showed that there was significant differences in temporomandibular disorders (P0.05).there was no significant differences in those without temporomandibular disorders(P0.05).Conclusion The asymmetry of the mandible is one of important factors for temporomandibular disorders,which deserves great attention during the treatment.
