Abstract

A hydrodynamic model for Daliaohe River Estuary is developed based on FVCOM.The tidal energy flux distribution and its variation characteristics along the Daliaohe River Estuary influenced by the interaction between tide and runoff were calculated and analyzed by numerical simulation method. The results show that the spatial distribution of the kinetic energy has the same distribution with water depth, while the potential energy is consistent with the tidal range and it occupies the main part in the energy along the river. The tidal energy flux during the dry season has the farthest impact in the tidal energy transmission process and has the highest value overall. The high energy regions are concentrated in narrow deep channels and cross section areas, and low energy regions are mainly in tidal flat near the mouth and in the upper reach. In the river mouth, the direction of the tidal energy flux is point to the sea at abundant season, while it is opposite at dry season. The results could provide references to the research of the estuarine dynamic sedimentation.
