Comparative Research on Family Environment and Learning Condition of Migrant Children in Nanjing

Abstract

Based on the data from a questionnaire survey carried out in four schools in Nanjing City,the paper analysed the migrant children' family environment and study status by taking the local children as the control group.The results showed that the migrant children' family environment was poor with 74.6% of then renting houses and parents providing less study support as well as emotional communication.More migrant families paid the sponsor fee and migrant children spent more time on the way to school than the local children.Migrant children gave better evaluation to their classes' study environment and their teachers' administration,but they evaluated themselves lower both on academic scores and education expectation.Corresponding suggestion were put forward to improve the migrant children's family environment and study status from the different views of the government,society,school and family.
