On Confucian Outlook of War

Abstract

Confucian outlook of war is philosophically based on his thought of benevolence,which consists of two aspects: to love others and to restore proprieties(of the Zhou Dynasty).From the view of to love others,Confucius was against wars;while from the view of to restore proprieties,he approved of and even supported the war vindicating the propriety system.The former,to a greater extent,reveals the political ideal of Confucius.The latter,on the other hand,indicates his political practice.
