Abstract
With Annals of Japan Association for Middle East Studies as a case,the paper summarizes the characteristics of Middle East studies in Japan.Japanese scholars have done in-depth research on the Middle East from various disciplines,and their fruits of research have been recognized internationally. However,it’s style of keeping a distance from reality is arguable.
