Abstract

Objective To investigate the inhibitory effects of compound arbutin on hyper-pigmentation in order to provide experimental evidence for treatment of skin pigmentation disorders. Methods Six kinds of topical cream containing different components were prepared,in which included arbutin, kojic acid, tretinoin, vitamin E,dexamethasone or hydroquinone. The inhibitory effects of these creams on tyrosinase activity were evaluated in UVB-induced pigmentation model.Morphological change and changes in the number of melanocyte were observed by HE,Schmorl and Imokawa staining. Results Decreased melanocytes and melanin granules were found with the treatment of different compound arbutin preparation(P0.05).Conclusion There are inhibitory effects of compound arbutin preparation on the hyperpigmentation induced by UVB.
