Abstract
As the best conserved ancient town in the region of Xuzhou,the Yaowan Ancient Town is still under development.The Yaowan Ancient Town is quite similar to the towns in the south of the Yangtze River in that the three sides of the town are surrounded by water.However,the layout of the folk houses in the town shaped as the Chinese word 弓,which is distinctive from the houses in the other parts of the country.Based on the developing experience of some other ancient towns in China,the author suggests some approaches to develop the city of great antiquity based on its own characters.
