Abstract
Effects of aquatic plants on the removal of nitrogen and phosphorus in eutrophicated water body and its alga-inhibiting action were studied. Results showed that aquatic plants such as Ceratophyllum demersum,Vallisneria spiralis,Ipomoea aquatica,Lemna minor and Potamogetom crispus Linn had the great ability to remove total nitrogen(TN),total phosphorus(TP),nitrate nitrogen and ammonia nitrogen in eutrophicated water. After incubation of 21days,the removal rates of TN and nitrate-nitrogen by I.aquatica were 76.93% and 71.9%,respectively.And the removal rates of TP and ammonia nitrogen by C.demersu were 93.15 % and 91.2%,respectively.Results also indicated that E.crassipes,C.demersum,L.minor,as well as their cultured water, had remarkable alga-inhibiting action.
