Research on the Land Use/Land Cover Dynamic Evolution in the Oasis of Arid Region

This paper chooses the Ebinur lake region oasis as a study area,using support vector machine(SVM) to classify land use /land cover types based on the three periods(1990,2001,2007)TM and ETM +satellite data,and analyze the dynamic change of land use / land cover in recent 20 years.The results show that:(1) from 1990-2001,except decrease of the bare land area,the rest of class increased with the fastest growing area of cultivated land which has been increasing 483.42 km.And from 2001 to 2010,in addition to the increase of 488.87 km areas of cultivated land,the remaining areas of land type were on the decline.From 1990 to 2010,the bare land area has decreased 1186.43 km.(2) Economic development,national policies,population growth and climate factors are driving forces of land use type change.Also rapid population increase in large demand for agricultural products prompts the violent change of cultivated land area of substantial growth.Therefore reasonable population control,government policy-oriented and rational economic development needs are very important for sustainable development of arid oasis land.
