Abstract

It becomes difficult to assemble reinforcement bars due to the requirement in recent years for higher-density reinforcement to improve seismic design standard. The curved clip reinforcement is introduced as replacement of stirrups in reinforced concrete columns aimed to simplify working process. The calculation method of replacement ratio of clip reinforcement is given. The experiments of the reinforced concrete columns with conventional reinforcement and the clip reinforcement replaced stirrups are carried out.The process of assembling stirrup and clip reinforcement is recorded in manufacturing the specimens. It is easy to make sure the correct position of steel bars in the reinforcement framework, simplify the execution procedure and lead to improve the efficiency. The lowcycle reversed loading test is carried out and the results show that the columns that replaced a conventional reinforcement bar with clip reinforcement have the equivalent bearing capacity and higher energy dissipation ability compared with that of conventional reinforcement.
