The Diagnosis Value of the Combined Tests in Patients with Thalassemia

Objective To study the value of the combined tests of mean corpuscular volume,red cell osmotic fragility test and Hemoglobin electrophoresis for the diagnosis of thalassemia.Methods 100 cases in patients with thalassemia(sicken group)and 80 cases with control group were detected by complete blood count,red cell osmotic fragility,Hb electrophoresis and genetic test of thalassemia.Results The sen-sitivity and specificity of MCV,RCOF,Hb electrophoresis single diagnostic test for thalassemia were 90.3% and 77.5%,71.3% and 70.1%,91.0%,91.8%;Sensitivity and specificity of MCV,RCOF,Hb electrophoresis joint detection of 100%,61.8%;The joint detection of sensitivity and specificity of detection compared with the single,had a significant difference(P0.05).Individual MCV,RCOF and Hb electrophoresis the number of positive cases were 91 cases,78 cases and 71 cases,The joint testing positive for the number of 68 cases.Conclusion Com-bined test is superior to each single test in patients with thalassemia.
