Abstract

Shear wall element is an important element to resist the lateral load, however, the research on the shearwall embedded with steel shapes is not detailed yet.To analyze the difference of the seismic behavior among the threekinds of shear walls, namely steel reinforced concrete truss shear wall, steel reinforced concrete frame shear wall andcommon reinforced concrete shear wall,we performed monotonic and cyclic lateral load test on four 1/4 scaled low-rise concrete shear wall specimens, including one piece of common steel reinforced concrete shear wall, one pieceof concrete shear wall embedded with steel shape frame and two pieces of concrete shear wall embedded with steelshape truss, and analyzed their stiffness,load-bearing capacity and failure mode. The results indicate that amongthese three kinds of elements, the concrete shear wall embedded with steel shape truss possesses greater strength, ductility and energy dissipation than the other two.
