Clinical Investigation of Chemoembolization of Hepatic Artery Combined with Portal Venous in Treating the Moderate and Advanced Hepatic Carcinomas

Objective To evaluate the effect of transcatheter arterial chemoemblization(TACE) with portal vein chemoembolization(PVCE) in treatment of moderate and advanced liver carcinoma.Methods Fourty-three cases of moderate and advanced liver carcinomas were randomly divided into two groups.One group(treatment group)was treated by TACE combined with PVCE,and the other(control group) was treated with TACE alone.Results Serum AFP level was tested and hepatic CT scanning was performed one week and one month after operation.The response rate of treatments group was higher than that of control group and there was a significant difference between the two groups(Ρ0.05).The liver function test was showed some positive changes in two groups in preoperation and one week postoperation,but there was not remarkable difference between the two groups and returned to normal values 4 weeks later.Conclusion The technique of TACE combined with PVCE is safe and superior to the technique of TACE alone for the treatment of the moderate and advanced livercarcinomas.
